Mentor Appreciation Event

As January comes to a close, so does our special focus this month on our mentors and our appreciation for their hard work. This Saturday, the 28th of January, we gathered at our partner church Door of Hope Northeast to enjoy time together getting to know one another.

The event started with a bingo-style icebreaker that encouraged our mentors to talk to one another as they looked for names to put in the boxes. Do you speak more than one language? Do you hike? Do you enjoy riding bikes? Do you live east of the Willamette?

One of our longest serving mentors, Ted, opened us up in prayer followed by a quick welcome from our Executive Director, Anne Marie. Chon and Curtis then recognized a few mentors who traveled the furthest to reach the event (Patrice), or the shortest (Seth - by bike!). Or for those who have served the longest as mentors (Jeff & Tanya), or the newest mentor (Natalie), or the mentor whose anniversary is coming up the soonest (Mike).

Aaron Peterson shared about his experience of being a mentor for many years now, while board member John C, a pastor at Door of Hope SE, also shared encouraging words with us.

Good Coffee stepped up to offer their delicious whole bean coffee, while baby goat cuddling opportunities were provided by Pastor Heather from Multnomah Presbyterian.
