Thank you mentors!

As we end National Mentoring Month (read the White House statement here) we want to recognize all of the mentors that are currently mentoring or have previously mentored with Faithful Friends. We are eternally grateful for those who give their time to the kids in our program. Mentoring makes such a difference in the lives of our kids, whether those mentors see it outwardly or not.

To show a little bit of the difference that the mentors are making in our program, here are a few quotes from parents this year about the impact that mentoring has made on their kids:

Oh my gosh, thank YOU, as always for giving [my daughter] such enriching time in the presence of such healthy individuals, and giving her this loving relationship with a healthy stable adult, she so has needed and needs. I am so, so thankful for the time and caring you give to her. I tell you the truth when I say she is attached to you so strongly it is second to me only. She does not have another relationship that compares and no other true attachment other than to me. I am not trying to inflate it, really is simply the truth- and a beautiful one for which I am deeply grateful and has and will continue to change [my daughter’s] life.

Larson spends time with his mentee at a Trail Blazers game over this past weekend…

The consistency has been good for [my son]. I think it is important for a male to prove to [my son] that he is worth showing up for.
[My daughter] deals with things much better than before she had a mentor. She really enjoys their time together no matter what they seem to do.

A mentee goes sledding with her mentor during the recent snow. For several of our mentees, this was a first experience of sledding!

Last year [my son] was really behind in school and not behaving well. His attitude has changed for the better since spending time with his mentors.
I can’t tell you how much it means to me that [this mentor] is not [my son’s] relative at all, in any way, and he takes the time every single week to spend with him and is so understanding with him. It really means so much to me. My son has become much more confident all around through this. He used to not want to leave the house without mom. That has completely changed.

Each and every one of you is making a difference. Thank you all for what you do!
