The Great Toy Giveaway
Our annual Bowl-a-Thon event is this weekend! This year we’ve been thinking of some ways to make it even more fun for the kids we serve. Someone who has stepped up to take that job very seriously, in her own very fun way, is “forever friend” mentor Liz Robinson.
“I remember going to the Bowl-a-Thon and what a great event it was for the mentees and wanted to help out in any way that was needed,” she says. She, her mentee, and her kids have taken on the role of picking out kid’s door prizes, and they have found great ones from Build-a-Bear, Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Lego store!
“These prizes will be such an exciting surprise to the winners, and the fun part is they will be winning what was their favorite item out of the bunch!” she says.
Liz has been mentoring with Faithful Friends for almost 5 years now.
“I was at my church and during worship I really felt the LORD stir my heart to serve,” she says. “I was so moved I remember deciding right after service to go sign up to help in the youth ministry at my church. When the pastor got up to start service, he gave a quick announcement about Faithful Friends and to go see them after service for more info. I knew that is why the LORD had told me to serve during worship.”
Ever since then Liz has been involved in Faithful Friends in many ways, and we are so thankful for her consistent service.
