Foster Care Focus
The month of May is National Foster Care month and there are currently about 5,250 children and youth staying with a foster family of some kind in the state of Oregon.
This is a great time to recognize how foster care supports and strengthens families, to honor the experiences of the children and young people in foster care, and to show gratitude for the contribution that resource families make to the well-being and safety of children and families throughout Oregon.
Faithful Friends has been deeply impacted by the stories of children finding support through foster care. Some mentors were foster kids themselves, while several of our current mentees live with a foster family. A few of our volunteers have been inspired to serve as foster parents after their experience with Faithful Friends.
We also want to recognize our church partners that are looking for ways to help children and foster families. We are proud to support organizations like EVERY CHILD OREGON which believes there is hope for every one of these children in foster care and positions itself to provide creative and innovative means towards all parties involved, including service workers.
